An antique Yemeni silver pendant has been carefully restored and transformed into the centrepiece of this bold, three-line brass cuff.
The original silver element had been worn and damaged over time. It was meticulously cleaned, repaired and strengthened by hand, while its aged surface and patina were preserved. Rather than disguising its history, the restoration allows the original workmanship and traces of its former life to remain visible.
New matt-finished brass elements were added to give the pendant structure and a contemporary warmth. Brass has been used in adornment for centuries and is valued for its rich golden tone, strength and ability to develop an individual patina over time. The open three-line cuff gives the substantial central panel a sense of balance and lightness on the wrist.
At the centre, red African amber introduces a deep, glowing note of colour. Its organic form and warm red-orange tone contrast beautifully with the cool antique silver and muted gold of the matt brass. Circular brass details above and below the amber create rhythm within the rectangular Yemeni pendant.
