A bold, two-layer necklace combining large antique silver beads with rare Yemeni black coral inlaid with red glass and turquoise, finished with a handmade sterling silver clasp.
The generous, sculptural silver beads give the necklace its distinctive shape and presence. Their softly irregular forms, aged surfaces and individual markings reveal the character of traditional handwork and the passage of time. Arranged across two graduated layers, the beads create depth, balance and a beautiful rhythm around the neckline.
The antique black coral beads traditionally known as yusr are individually decorated with hand-worked silver inlay. Historically used in Yemen and across the Arabian Peninsula in jewellery and prayer strands, these beads were valued for both their rarity and their intricate craftsmanship.
Touches of vivid red glass and natural turquoise bring colour and contrast to the deep black coral and softly aged silver. Each element has been carefully selected and reassembled into an entirely original SuhaniMara design.
Because the antique beads vary naturally in shape, pattern and patina, this necklace cannot be exactly repeated, a wearable composition of history, colour and contemporary design.
