At the heart of this money clip is an original 1952 East African 1 Shilling coin, once part of the currency that circulated British East Africa. The original copper-nickel coin features a lion against Mt.Kenya, surrounded by the words East Africa, with its denomination and date preserved beneath. SuhaniMara has given the coin a new life, gold plating it and setting it onto a handcrafted money clip, while keeping the original imagery and character of the coin visible.
Created for the Coined in Time Collection, it transforms something once carried as money into something made to carry money a subtle play between its past and its new purpose.
