This little rainbow was originally drawn on paper by Suhani as a child, an expression of colour, happiness and the uncomplicated wonder with which children see the world. I took her drawing and transformed it into a piece of wearable art, preserving the character and innocence of her original lines.
Handcrafted using the metals of Kenya, in Sterling Silver with copper and brass details, the contrasting metals bring warmth and dimension to the rainbow, while the soft matt finish clouds gives the piece its quiet, contemporary character.
Small, playful and full of sentiment, it is a reminder to hold onto a little of that childhood wonder, to find colour, possibility and magic in the everyday.
Designed by little Suhani, interpreted into jewellery by her mother, and handcrafted in Kenya, this is a deeply personal piece from the Suhani Mara story.
