Some designs carry more than beauty, they carry a family story.

Originally designed by my father, whose creativity and influence have been instrumental in my own journey as a designer, this timeless baby rattle has evolved over the years, while its story and sentiment have remained the same.

At its heart is an original old East African 10-cent coin, carefully silver plated and transformed into a charming rattle. It is paired with a warm African amber bead and a polished hematite bead, bringing together history, natural material and traditional craftsmanship.

The coin gives the piece its distinctive character and a tangible connection to East Africa’s past, while the amber and hematite add warmth, contrast and texture.

Created to celebrate a new arrival, this is more than a baby gift. It is a keepsake, something to treasure from those earliest days and hold onto long after childhood has passed.

A piece born from one generation and carried into the next, handcrafted in Kenya and continuing a story that began with my father.
