This pendant  features a genuine piece of Canadian Ammolite fossil. Ammolite is the iridescent, gem-quality fossilised shell of Placenticeras ammonites, prehistoric marine creatures related to today’s squid and octopus. These ammonites inhabited the ancient inland seas that covered parts of North America during the Late Cretaceous period, approximately 71–75 million years ago.

Ammolite is found primarily in southern Alberta, Canada, where fossilised ammonite shells are carefully recovered from the Bearpaw Formation. Over millions of years, the shell’s original aragonite layers developed vivid natural flashes of colour, including green, blue, gold, orange and red. Its iridescence is created by the interaction of light with the fossilised shell’s finely layered structure.
